korean internet business

April 4, 2008

I read an article about the internet business in Korea. It explains how countries all over the world are fighting to take the lead in e-commerce. Korean companies are accelerating their efforts to facilitate the e-commerce while the government endeavoring to com up with industrial policies central to e-commerce by establishing the basic Act on electronic commerce in 1999, “Comprehensive Policies for e-Commerce Development” in 2000 and “e-Business Initiative in Korea” in 2001 It says that If the Korean government’s strategies are implemented as planned, e-commerce — which has been delayed due to absence of cooperation among enterprises and lack of investment capability of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) — will be disseminated throughout the nation’s entire economy. The report given was designed to examine the possibilities for growth of e-commerce by reviewing the current status of and prospects for e-commerce in Korea. It will examine the e-commerce infrastructure, followed by the status of each e-commerce area, major e-commerce issues, and will examine problems and key policies of the government. Thanks to a rise in the distribution of computers and the rapid development of information technology, the E-commerce is expanding in Korea as the number of Internet. Thanks to the vastly increased distribution of computers and the growing number of PC communication subscribers since the late 1980s, The Internet is being widely disseminated at a rapid pace in Korea. These explain the Korean well-established IT infrastructure and positive government policies supporting the information and communication sector. Korea is one of the most advanced countries in terms of establishment of broadband networks; the cable internet and satellite internet are growing so quickly. This expansion enables users to gain faster and easier Internet access to high-quality and high-quantity contents, thereby contributing to the nation becoming an information superpower. Korea has established in accordance with global legislation related to e-commerce, various Acts and regulations, such as consumer protection and electronic payments. They are promoting projects such as creating infrastructure by establishing and standardizing B2B networks in industries, developing technology, and fostering manpower. They are also promoting projects on international cooperation for the global B2B market and the expansion of e-commerce in other regions. They don’t cease to fight for the improvement in the market in accordance with their government, private institutes and research centers.

Strenght Weakness Opportunities and Treats analysis

April 4, 2008

SWOT Analysis, is a strategic planning tool used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project or in a business venture. It involves specifying the objective of the business venture or project and identifying the internal and external factors that are favorable and unfavorable to achieving that objective. the awot anylysis provides information that is helpful in matching the firm’s resources and capabilities to the competitive enironment in which it operates. As such, it is instrumental in strategy formulation and selection. The following diagram shows how a SWOT analysis fits an enironmental scan. STRENGHTS: A firm’s strenghts are its resource and capabilities that can be used as a basis of developing a competitie advantage. example of such strenghts include: patients, strong brand names, good reputation among customers, cost adantages from propriety know -how, exclusive access to hig grade natural resources, favorable to distribution networks. WEAKNESS: the absence of certain strenghts may be viewed as a weakness .For example lack of patient protection, a weak brandname, poor reputation among customers, high cost structure. I n some cases weakness may be the flip side of a strenght. for example a firm has a large amount of manufacturing capacity . while this capacity may be considered a strenght that competitors do not share, it alos may be a considered a weakness if the large investment in manufacturing capacity prevent the firm from reacting quickly to changes in the strategic environment. OPPORTUNITIES The external environmental analysis may reveal certain new opportunities for profit and growth. fro example an unfulfilled customer need, arrival of new technologies, loosening of regulations, removal of international trade barriers, TREATS Changes in the external environmental also may present treats to the firm. For example shifts in customers tastes away from the firm’s products, emergence of substitute products, new regulations, increased trade barriers. SWOT Matrix: The SWOT Matrix helps visualize the analysis. Also, when executing this analysis it is important to understand how these element work together. When an organization matched internal strengths to external opportunities, it creates core competencies in meeting the needs of its customers. In addition, an organization should act to convert internal weaknesses into strengths and external threats into opportunities. http://www.quickmba.com/strategy/swot/ postes bu 20700735 entry number 3

HEALTHY FAST FOOD

April 4, 2008

healthy-fast-food1.jpg Some call it the classic fast-food meal. Others call it a dinning-out dinosaur. The high-fat, high –calorie menu that made Ronald McDonald a household name is now making him a worldwide whipping boy.McDonald’s blinked … in 2002 announcing plans to take half the artery-clogging trans-fatty acid out of its French fries. But the chain is a latecomer to the better-for-you party. Burger king began selling veggie burgers months ago.Arby’s market fresh sandwiches are 1 ½ years old. Subway has seven subs with 6 grams of fat or less for four years.Later year, Wendy’s rolled out a salad line that’s the envy of the industry. Faster than you can say” hold the mayo.” The $105 billion fast food industry finds itself at a stomach- churning crossroads that could affect the eating habits of almost every consumer in the nation and ultimately, the world. The fast –food titans are hearing, and responding, to a cry for more nutritious food. They are all welcome service gasoline stations for the human body” says Ronald shaicn, CEO of Panera bread. The fast food titans are being pressured by consumer lawsuit for more healthful food. They are responding to health conscious baby boomers that stop at Panera bread or even whole foods markets instead. SOME HEALTHY FAST FOOD CHOICESBy paying attention to your choices you can make the most of your fast food meal. In fact, you can make the most of any restaurant meal. The good news is that many restaurants, fast food and sit-down, are adding healthier menu options. It is now possible to eat a fairly nutritious meal on the go. Keep in mind portion control (no super sizing), high fat and calorie sauces and dressings (eliminate them or take them on the side and use sparingly), and sodas (drink water or low fat milk). Making good choices when you are eating out will help you maintain a healthy diet. Knowing what types of menu items are healthier than others can help limit temptation and will also help you encourage your children and grandchildren to make healthy choices as well. When choosing, be aware of highly caloric additions such as salad dressings, cheese, sour cream, etc. Sometimes, making your choice healthier is as simple as removing the condiments. For example, ask for a grilled chicken sandwich without the mayonnaise. Many restaurants are making progress and offering alternatives like salads with low calorie, fat free dressings, or grilled chicken sandwiches on whole wheat rolls, but if they don’t, see what you can do to make your choice more nutritious and less fattening. Some healthy fast food choices include:

·  Grilled chicken or fish sandwich ·

 Whole wheat rolls ·

 Fruit or fruit and yogurt

·  Baked potato (with vegetables instead of cheese, butter or sour cream)

·  Salad with dressing on the side or fat free salad dressing

·  Single hamburger (regular or children’s size)

 ·  Low fat deli sandwiches on wheat bread or on pita bread

 ·  Wraps on whole wheat tortillas (without dressing)

 ·  Fat free / low fat milk or water

Seven Tips For A Successful Internet Markting

April 4, 2008

Seven Tips For A Successful Internet Marketing Campaign!” In this world of hot market competition we need the best and practical ideas which will enable us to survive. Through reading some articles, here are the points I want to share with my fellow students on how we can win market and maximize our profits
. Here are 7 tips for ensuring success from your marketing campaign.
1. Promote to the right audience.
If your campaign is to succeed it must be aimed at the right people. That is people that are willing and able to respond. In other words they have a need/want for your product/service and the money and authority to buy it. You need to know exactly who you are after and make sure the promotional medium you use is correct. So if you’re selling something to Accountants then you need a list of Accountants to make your offer to. Makes sense right.
2. Minimize risk for the customer.
A potential customer will not buy from you if they believe the risk of doing so outweighs the return they will get. Or if they are unsure that you will deliver what you have promised. So ask yourself what can you do to let the customer know that the risk is firmly stacked on your side and they really have nothing to lose? Answer this question and do it to maximize results from your campaign.
3. Set up a follow-up system.
Rarely will you make a sale the first time you come into contact with a potential customer. Stats show you may need up to 7 contacts before they buy. So you must have a follow-up system in place for your campaign. Get their email address and permission to stay in touch and make sure you do. Follow-up with useful information for them and you will increase your sales.
4. Make an irresistible offer.
You want people to buy right? To make sure they do your offer has to be great, in fact it should be irresistible. As a guide it should sound almost too good to be true but not too good, people are skeptical. More than likely each customer you get will buy again from you in the future so make their first purchase a small step and stack the deal in their favor. For example ‘get your first bag of Jim’s Choice Coffee for just $1 (normally $8.50) if you buy today’.
5. Know the lifetime value of a customer.
Acquiring a customer can seem expensive but it’s not if you consider what a customer is worth over their lifetime with your business. Let’s say Jim’s Choice Coffee keeps a customer for 3 years and the customer buys one bag of coffee a month from him. That’s 36 months times $8.50 a bag - $306 over their lifetime with his business. See how it makes sense for him to offer a bag for $1 to start that $306 relationship.
6. Track your progress.
You have to know the numbers on your campaign. How many enquiries? How many sales? What was the value of each sale? Did you make a profit on the campaign? Will you make a profit over the lifetime of the customers? You need this information to know whether the campaign was successful. Also if it’s a long term campaign these figures can tell you if you need to make changes along the way.
7. Analyze and repeat or improve.
Once you have your figures you must analyze the campaign. If it’s profitable you should keep running it. If it’s not you need to find out why. Was it the offer? Was there too much risk for the customer? Was the advertising medium wrong? Didn’t you follow-up properly? What went wrong and how can you fix it to make the campaign work. Make changes and try again. Keep trying till you find the winning formula. Marketing is trial and error but making sure you analyze and learn as you go.
So what’s your next marketing campaign going to be? Apply these 7 tips and reap the rewards. Good luck.

MySpace Music Is Passed into Co-ownership?

April 4, 2008

MySpace Music

If asked, we all would say that MySpace is one of the online social-networking giants, that offers interesting and unique features to its customers. Rumors spun through the Internet that News Corp (owner of MySpace) is letting MySpace Music, one of its highly loved features, to be co-owned by other companies. On this Thursday, it became clear that MySpace Music will be co-owned with Universal Music Group, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group.

Under the joint venture, the expanded music service will feature free advertising-supported streams of songs and videos from Universal, Sony BMG and Warner recording artists, as well as an online store where visitors will be able to purchase restriction-free song downloads, ringtones and other merchandise.

MySpace co-founder and CEO Chris DeWolfe said that is was a collaborative effort to build on a model that was extremely user-friendly and was based on what our users had asked us to build. And with the deal, MySpace Music will develop from what has been primarily a promotional vehicle for artists and labels to a commercial vehicle as well.

Since its music community was launched four years ago, MySpace has grown into a popular, even vital, means for newly emerging artists to expose their music to new fans. And for MySpace users, the site has become a key means of discovering new music and staying in touch with what their artists are up to.

Meanwhile, Apple’s iTunes Store has been successful in selling song downloads, but its dominance of the paid download market has given the company uncomfortably heavy influence over the recording industry in terms of pricing and promotions. Moreover, Apple’s motivations are connoted by the fact that its ultimate goal is to maximize sales of iPods, not iTunes merchandise.

Indeed, the MySpace joint venture is the most explicit move so far by the recording industry to counter iTunes. The first such effort was the agreement by all four major labels to make restriction-free music downloads. Available at Internet retail giant Amazon.com, which launched a music download service earlier this year.

I hope it will make it possible for us to download our favorite music freely.
